A new foreign player has emerged in the Ukrainian real estate market – BI Group from Kazakhstan, which has acquired the Ukrainian construction company Watzenrode. It now seeks to establish a prominent role in Ukraine’s reconstruction and plans to build housing in Kyiv and surrounding areas.

BI Group is the sixth-largest private company in Kazakhstan and the leading construction firm. In 2024, its revenue was approximately $2B. BI Group has been interested in the Ukrainian market since 2018. In 2023, the company collaborated with Ukrainian developer DIM. This year’s effort is BI Group’s most significant attempt to enter Ukraine.

Experts note that BI Group operates across the entire value chain – from design and construction to sales and property management – which makes it competitive in any new market. The group plans to function as a comprehensive reconstruction contractor and housing developer in Ukraine. The company is also interested in renewable energy, including wind and solar projects.
